Culture and Migration. A Global Commitment of UNAM
The National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) has been long renowned for its dedication to spreading and fostering culture in all its forms. Whether in visual arts, literature, music, theater or dance, UNAM has solidified its position as a cornerstone of cultural expression that extends beyond borders and resonates in diverse regions of the world.
Migration is one of the core themes that UNAM addresses through its cultural activities. In an increasingly interconnected world, where millions seek new opportunities away from their places of origin, it is important to comprehend and reflect on the complexities and challenges encountered by migrants.
Cultural promotion transcends academic boundaries to include a broader community through open-public cultural events. These activities do not only feature local and international artists but also foster cultural inclusion and diversity. Through exhibitions, presentations, installations, and cultural events, UNAM offers a platform to explore and discuss migratory experiences from various perspectives. This contributes to raising awareness in society about critical issues, facilitating dialogue and understanding among diverse cultures and communities, as highlighted in this issue of
UNAM Internacional.
In the following pages we present examples of cultural activities held in university spaces, illustrating diverse aspects and perspectives on migration.
